What is the ABEC standard?

ABEC is a set of tolerance standards for the production of ball bearings. They were developed by the American Bearing Manufacturers Association (ABMA). Five tolerance classes have been distinguished: 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 (from the largest to the smallest tolerance). The higher the number, the more precisely the bearing is made. Individual bearing parameters are achieved first by segregating the balls, inner and outer rings, and finally by using a lubricant.

In fact, it's hard to say that the ABEC 9 bearing is generally better than the one with the number 5. The ABEC5 bearing was created for a specific use in a given roller model (usually for recreational skating) and, for example, type 3 bearings are offered mainly in children's roller skates, while ABEC5 is a proposition for beginner roller skaters who value durability over speed. ABEC7 is the perfect optimum between durability and relatively high speed. ABEC9 bearings are almost the highest technological shelf, intended for the highest models and are usually chosen by people who value impeccable quality.

X-Torsion Bar SystemX-shaped reinforcement in the bottom of the shell increases its stiffness and improves energy transfer, which is extremely important at higher speeds. This technology is widely used in racing models where it has been very positively received.
Hinge Screw The connection between the upper and the lower part of the shell is a place where very high stresses occur, the quality of this connection is also crucial for lateral stability.
